You Must Have Had Better Plans
and there was a thunderstorm
the kind people get scared of
but i wasn’t.
and I was dreaming of you
but i was wide awake
in the middle of the day
anxious to leave
To get out of my clothes
I had a pair of socks
in my pocket.
I stole them for you
so your feet could be dry again
Your car was broken.
but i Thought you would pick me up
Anyway.
there was alot of water
people were disappearing
I wasn’t really worried
In the streets where you would be,
I stared and waited
the wind grew stronger and I dreamt.
there was a poncho in the gutter
I covered from the rain
even though i wanted to get wet.
the wind was stronger than ever
I crouched down in a corner
and it overpowered me
like a parachute
me and my poncho flew away a little bit
A little bit more,
I threw your socks into the streets
My body above the trees
I was gone
and you
Never showed.
