MY TOP 30 LP’s OF 2009.
- peter bjorn and john - living thing (i guess not alot of people liked this record…but i sure as hell did. a super fun record and a good follow up to writers block in my opinion. i’m excited for what they come up with next.)
- dirty projectors - bitte orca (holy smokes. this record rules. i’ve definitely listened to it over and over and over again. it’s just so well crafted. well deserved praise all around.)
- islands - vapours (islandsss is so sweet! i havent really read about anyone giving a shit about this record much this year, but it’s a really goddammn good pop record. this band gets better with each record for sure)
- animal collective - merriweather post pavillion (this i guess is a given. i’m usually not all about the hype bands(sometimes). and i was never really a fan of this bands older noisey records. i like the experimentation of it. but the pop hooks mixed in, is really what captured me. i’m glad they got to this point, cause it only seems to be getting better from here on out.)
- julian casablancas - phrazes for the young (i’m a sucker for this dude’s work. i loved every strokes album and i love this as well. singing along to julian just makes me feel like a badass i guess.)
- st. vincent - actor (annie clark is awesome. actor out of work is one of the best songs this year.)
- the xx - xx (so different than anything i’ve been hearing lately. took a few listens to really appreciate it. so simple. yet so good.)
- fun - aim and ignite (these are some damn good dudes and they made a damn good record. it’s great when that happens. you’ll singalong after one listen. forreal)
- memory tapes - seek magic (this is one of those new like bedroom “bands”. like i used to be kinda. but obviously better. haha. memory tapes is def my fav.)
- discovery - discovery (perfect R&b flavoured white boy pop songs. my kinda stuff. thejackon 5 cover sucks ass though. skip it. haha)
- yeah yeah yeahs - its blitz!
